I spend my working days overseeing the I.T. department at the Public Library of Science (PLoS). For those not so research article inclined,PLoS publishes seven journals focused on life-sciences (e.g. PLoS Biology and PLoS Medicine). PLoS was started to turn the monopolist, impact factor scientific publishing world upside down with Open Access publishing and post-publishing peer review. Our largest journal is PLoS ONE (which will become the largest scientific journal in the world in 2010). We’ve also developed the Ambra Open Source publishing platform which is built on a semantic RDF triple-store.
I also surf the cold waters of the Bay Area and try to keep warm by drinking quality craft beer. I’ve done a fair bit of work on the RateBeer website and still pitch in when I have the time. My very talented, intelligent and beautiful wife can be found blog posting at Gypsy Girls Guide.
